The "Z " line

Finally time to answer the question on the "Z" more thoroughly...although the short answer is correct!

The Z line of Michalow, and later branches to Kurozweki is of the Selma family. The female line came into Poland from the Crabbet Stud. Rasima (Rasim Pierwszy x Sardhana by Nureddin) was bred to Witraz, producing Cesmia. Cesmia was bred to Arax (Amurath Sahib X Angara by Wielki Szlem). This resulted in one of the few Arax daughters bred and left in Poland after his sale to Russia.
The daughter was Zlota Iwa, (zlota eva ~ Pronounciation) who left a fine legacy of excellent mares.

Zlota Iwa was bay, and left the significant mares, Zlota Jesien by *Gedymin: Zamiec by Czardasz: and Zazula (Negatiw), as well as *Zdrada (*El Paso) and Zieba (Negatiw).
The two most significant were Zamiec and Zazula. Zamiec produced a number of horses imported to the US, including the gorgeous chestnut *El Paso daughter and show horse, *Zadymka, owned by Ventura. She left a number of good horses, three of which became Canterbury Farm mares. These were Zaspa (*Bandos), Zabrina VF (Wizjon) and the granddaughter Zorbanda. Sadly these three are gone now, but the daughters have left a significant legacy. There are 9 horses of this line here, with 5 in foal to *Ganges for 05.

Another daughter of Zamiec was Zaspa PASB (*Elef) who sold for considerable money in the Polish Ovation Sale of 1985. Zamiec was also the dam of the race horse, *Zloty Potok (*Bandos) who left a good legacy for this sport.
Most important to the Michalow program was the mare Zazula. She was an international winner at halter, and quite elegant. She had good foals including Zula and Zuela (both by *Probat) and Zguba by the *Probat son, *Enrilo. The most famous of this line currently is the daughter of Zguba by Monogramm, US National Champion Sr. Mare, *Zagrobla.

The family is known for it's beauty, etherial quality, Saklawi type, and movement.

Hope that illuminates this line a bit more than "very good".
